Actions + Pomegranate Pork Roast

“Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven.” Matthew 6:1

So often we get caught up in doing nice things for others just so that we “look good.” I know- I’m guilty of it, too.

Don’t get me wrong- it’s great to do good deeds! God loves random acts of kindness. It’s just that doing them in order to get praise from someone else is not what He wants. It’s also important to remember that we aren’t saved on acts (or works) alone. We must genuinely love Him, and that’s something we should all be constantly working on.

Today’s recipe is Pomegranate Crock Pot Pork Roast

This was a perfect recipe for today. All it required was throwing a few things in the crock pot , and I don’t think I have to tell you that walking into a crock pot-scented home is one of the best feelings imaginable. And with all this cold weather we’ve been having, it was just pure comfort.

This recipe is adapted from a Christmas gift of mine, a Crock Pot cook book of which I do not know the name.

serves 6-8 (but I about quartered mine and it was just fine for the three of us!)

1/4 cup cranberry-pomegranate cocktail (can use pomegranate juice)
1/2 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon garlic salt
1 tablespoon steak seasoning
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 pork roast (4 to 5 lbs)
1 apple or pear
1/2 orange with peel (I improvised with cuties!)

1. Pour cocktail or pomegranate juice into crockpot.
2. Blend all seasonings and rub mixture onto roast. Put the roast in the crock pot and turn it over so that both sides have been covered in juice.
3. Top roast with apple and orange slices.

see how pretty!
4. Cover and cook on high for 6-8 hours (or adjust according to roast size).

This even got a thumbs up from my picky brother, and I call that an accomplishment! Make this- soon!
